Mr. Benny Mehta of Clean N’ Brite has met all the criteria to earn the “Certified Professional Drycleaner”
(CPD) designation from the International Fabricare Institute
(IFI). This program involves a rigorous course of study,
followed by a three-hour written exam.
The exam affirms the drycleaner’s expertise on
various issues, such as professional dry cleaning procedures,
the implementation of prescribed dry cleaning standards
of physical plant facilities, and safe equipment operation.
All CPDs must earn recertification every five years.
Certified Professional Drycleaners can provide customers
with:
- Proven, up-to-date knowledge of business management, customer
service, fibers and fabrics and the dry cleaning process,
- Adherence to the “Professional Standards of Certified
Drycleaners”,
- An awareness of the professional and safe operation of
dry cleaning establishments.
Mr. Mehta passed the exam in April 2005. The certification
runs through 2010.

and assist peer drycleaners through Mid-Atlantic Association
of Cleaners, a trade association of drycleaners in four
states, including Virginia”, Mr. Mehta said.
IFI is a trade association representing approximately 6,000
drycleaners, launderers and wetcleaners in the United
States and 54 other nations.
